The Picos de Europa, Spain

The Picos de Europa (literally “peaks of Europe“) is a range of mountains 20 km inland
from the northern coast of Spain. Forming part of the Cantabrian mountains, the Picos de Europa were reportedly the first sight of Europe for ships arriving from America, which also explains the origin of their name. I completed a 7-day hike through this mountain range, and was stunned by the enormous diversity of the landscapes through which we passed. There were the stark, barren panoramas of Torres de los Horcados Rojos in contrast to the lush valleys and traditional, rural, agricultural Spanish villages, such as Sotres and Espinama. I won’t deny it was a challenging hike in parts but the incredible scenery made it all worthwhile. – Kiara Gallop, Gallop Around the Globe. More://galloparoundtheglobe.com/
