Tour with Trafalgar

Dinner and wine are included on most nights, with just a few free evenings. The food was
generally good, but it is the special evenings that stand out.An especially lavish buffet in Auckland, a Maori feast with traditional dancing, a dinner paired with local wines and a meal on a farm reached by a wonderful old steamship were all included, plus there’s a barbecue lunch on a private farm with a chance to meet the animals. Most guests took up the option to dine at the top of the gondola in Queenstown. While not all the 12 hotels used rate a nine in their own right, bearing in mind the price of this tour the accommodation was not just of high quality but rewardingly varied: city-centre properties, lakeside resorts and country inns.My highlights included The Langham in Auckland, where dignitaries and celebrities stay; the Copthorne Resort overlooking the Bay of Islands; the McKenzie Country Hotel, among the mountains with excellent stargazing; and the Punakaiki Resort, set on a wild beach.
