Ramnagaram, barely 50 kms from Bangalore’s fringes, is one place frequented by rock climbing

and bouldering enthusiasts by the drove. It has a profusion of tall granite hills on its border, popularly known as the ‘Sholay Hills’. The three most commonly visited for rock climbing being Ramadevarabetta, SRS betta and Thenginkalbetta. This town, famed for its silk industry, is also home to Ramadevarabetta Vulture Sanctuary that protects long-billed vultures on the brink of extinction. When on a trip to this tourist place near Bangalore (within 200), one can also visit the man-made lake of Kanva reservoir formed by the waters of river Kanva. Explore the rocky landscapes of Ramnagara on a night trek amongst the peace and quiet of nature, topped off with a gorgeous sunrise the next morning!
