Happy Birthday UAE

As I said in my previous post, sometimes I get access to some really nice locations.
When those locations are combined with great weather something special happens. Yesterday, I noticed the beautiful rare clouds above Dubai and I knew I had to shoot the city. A couple of calls later, I got myself on one of the balconies of the Majestic Hotel in Bur Dubai and started photographing the skyline.
From that point of view the buildings on Sheikh Zayed Road look like the city walls of some sort of sci-fi fortress protecting the Burj Khalifa right in the middle – particularly when everything is lit from the side by the setting sun. And since tomorrow is UAE’s 43rd National Day, all I have to say is Happy Birthday UAE – it’s quite impressive what you’ve done in your short history!
From a technical point of view, the image was taken with a 70-200mm and a Big Stopper Lee Filter which allowed me to get the exposure all the way to one minute, hence the blurriness in the clouds.
