Yemen has been the home for several civilizations which is why it is an excellent
location for anyone interested in Middle Eastern culture and history. Yemen is located on the Arabian Peninsula in the southwest region. The Republic's unique location sets it apart from other nations in the Middle East because its proximity to water causes it to produce lush greenery along the coast. The landscape of Yemen varies greatly and affects the weather. Higher altitudes present cooler temperatures while sea level remains warm. Summers are usually hot and humid; and winters although cold at night, are also quite warm and sunny during the daylight hours.
The Republic of Yemen offers several different tourist activities. The Islamic architecture is exquisite and can be viewed on several local buildings. The Imam Gasim Mosque has stood in Al-Raudha from the seventeenth century. Surrounding this building are vineyards, traditional clay homes, and beautiful gardens. Visitors to the site on the weekends will be able to see the open air market on Sunday. Furthermore, Old San'a is an excellent town for viewing Yemen 's architectural designs. The city has 14,000 tower houses which have been dubbed the world's first sky scrapers.
