On the Island of Staffa, in the Inner Hebrides group, there is an ancient sea cave, whose
disarming beauty has inspired many artists over time. It’s Fingal’s Cave, formed 60 million years ago with the gradual cooling of a lava flow and now one of the most beautiful caves in the world. The basalt columns that form its structure, with their perfectly hexagonal shapes, make this place worthy of the most extravagant fantasy. According to the Celtic legend, this amazing cave would be the base of a sea bridge build by two enemy giants. A magical and extraordinary place, with a mysterious and legendary aura, which is a feast for the eyes, but not only: the sounds produced by the echo of the waves crashing on the basalt columns make Fingal’s Cave look like an ancient rocky cathedral surrounded by the waves of the sea.
